Feature Details :
Whether you're buying a roof for your home, your barn, your business, or any other building, it is important to understand the type of material you're buying. When looking at the options for your metal roof, you may hear the terms "Galvalume" and "galvanized steel".
These two metals aren't all that different from one another by definition. However, the benefits and drawbacks of Galvalume and galvanized metal significantly differ, including how long each one lasts, the expectations of how each one will perform, and more.
Galvanized Steel :
Galvanized steel consists of a piece of steel cleaned and dipped into molten zinc. The zinc then hardens onto the steel, creating an extra protective coating. This helps the steel stand up to rust, corrosion, nicks, and dents.
Galvanized steel is a staple of construction, manufacturing, and fabrication for its durability and resistance to corrosion. Galvanization can be found on most steel structures. Generally, galvanized steel will last approximately 15-20 years with minimal maintenance.
Galvalume is comprised of a steel sheet dipped in a coating of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicone. The unique coating gives the steel greater protection from the elements, which allows it to outlast traditional galvanized steel.
Overall, Galvalume is suitable as a roof, wall, trim, accent, and more in most building applications in some of the most extreme environments, including hurricane zones, locations with high rain or snowfall, high-temperature regions, and more.
As you can see, the main difference between Galvalume and galvanized steel is the protective coating around each steel sheet. Galvanized steel consists of zinc, while Galvalume's coat consist of zinc, aluminum, and silicone.
Both types of metal are excellent for roofing, and they each have their pros and cons. Galvalume is a much longer-lasting material, with a lifespan about twice that of galvanized steel. Galvanized steel tends to cost less (while still delivering great protection), making it a great choice for buyers on a budget.
It's always best to speak with a local expert with experience in Galvalume and galvanized steel. An experienced professional can provide the best recommendation based on the intended use of your building and the expected weather conditions in the area.
No matter what you decide, a steel roof is going to last longer and provide more protection than wood or asphalt shingles. With a steel roof - be it galvanized or Galvalume - you can enjoy durability, safety, and energy efficiency for years to come .
Structural steel plate:
It is mainly used for the production of steel structures, bridges, ships and vehicles.
Weathering steel plate:
The addition of special elements (P, Cu, C, etc.) has good corrosion resistance and atmospheric corrosion resistance, and is used in the production of containers, special vehicles, and also for building structures.
Hot rolled special steel plate:
Carbon steel, alloy steel and tool steel for general mechanical structure are used in the production of various mechanical parts after heat treatment engineering.
Steel plate for steel tube:
It has good processing performance and compressive strength, and can be used to produce high pressure gas pressure vessels with contents less than 500L filled with LPG, acetylene and various gases.
From aesthetics and style to durability and strength, the 'wave' like profile in roofing sheets offers a number of different benefits for your roof structure.
Firstly, the larger surface area and corrugated design allow the sheets to disperse weight from heavy force more evenly across the surface, improving the stability and durability of the roof. Thanks to this additional strength, corrugated roofing is also often very thin which makes it significantly lighter than other sheets.
What's more, the corrugated waves also allow water to shed from the roof surface very easily, minimising the risk of leakages and water damage.
In terms of visual appeal, many find the corrugated look adds a stylish and classic appeal to a roof structure, especially on farm buildings.
Shandong Zhuosheng Steel Co.,Ltd is a large-scale iron and steel enterprise integrating iron and steel production, processing, distribution and trade. The comprehensive strength has jumped to the forefront of the domestic steel industry.
Zhuosheng Steel is committed to the research and development, production and processing of carbon steel and profiles and pipes, with strong research and development strength and reliable quality assurance capabilities. Products are suitable for nuclear power, aviation, marine engineering, oil exploration, construction and other fields. The comprehensive annual production capacity is 500,000 tons, and the products are exported to more than 100 countries and regions.
Zhuosheng Steel mainly produces steel pipes, angle steels, I-beams, steel bars, steel plates, steel coils, etc. Since the establishment of the company, product quality has always been regarded as the foundation of the enterprise, and service quality has been regarded as a bridge of communication. We sincerely hope to establish business with customers from all over the world. We insist on providing high-quality services, "pragmatic, development, innovation", entrepreneurship and integrity are our company's business purposes.
Application:
Galvalume is applied to a material using the hot-dipping process. Therefore, a Galvalume coating has similar thicknesses to that of hot-dipped galvanized material. The thickness for the hot-dipping process is around 1 mil thick. The thickness can range somewhat depending on the coating specification.
Each roofing material boasts its own unique advantages and features that make it suited for different applications. A popular favourite of ours, however, is the corrugated bitumen sheets.
Starting at just £5 square metre, corrugated bitumen sheets are cost-effective and practical, whilst offering exceptional durability and weather resistance all year round. They are easy to install so perfect for the DIY homeowner, plus require very little maintenance over their impressive 15 year lifespan.
Due to their versatility, corrugated bitumen sheets can be utilised in a wide range of projects including carports, sheds, summerhouses, garages, stables and more. The range of colours and sizes give you the freedom to accommodate your style to your roof minus the hassle.
